The Power System Consulting team of Tractebel Engineering delivers high level worldwide consulting on Power Systems and is the excellence center of the GDF SUEZ Group for all related topics. The team also develops and markets power system analysis software (see www.eurostag.com).
As Senior Power System Engineer, you will contribute to the development of expertise, team coaching and project management within Power System Consulting team.
o You are in charge of the power system studies (electricity generation, transmission and distribution) dealing with:
o system modelling and validation, modelling of its components such as power plants, loads and their controls;
o static and dynamic simulations to optimize power system control, operation and systemic protections (i.e. emergency controls and defence actions);
o system security studies involving AC transmission systems but also HVDC and power electronics technologies applied to power system transmission;
o You are responsible for the implementation of real-time operation support software (security-optimisation) in grid control centres;
o You ascertain the design and specify new functionalities of simulation and optimisation software for electricity generation, transmission and distribution systems;
o You develop innovative concepts regarding design and operation, incorporating new technologies and addressing renewable source of energy such as wind/solar park generation, smart/super grids in a competitive electricity market environment;
o You develop Dispatching Training Simulator scenarios and you are in charge of the training of grid and power plant operators.
o You are an electrical or electro-mechanical engineer/PhD, ideally specialised in power systems and have a strong interest for the power systems and its various components complex systemic interactions;
o You have worked with integrated electricity utilities, with transmission or distribution system operators or with consulting companies in the field of power systems simulation and optimization;
o You are familiar with power system simulation and optimization tools (Eurostag, PSS/E, Digsilent, …);
o You have a working knowledge of English and preferably also of Dutch or French. The knowledge of the following languages is a valuable asset : German, Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese;
o You are dynamic, creative, autonomous, you have a taste for high-level expertise;
o You are willing to accept short and medium term assignments abroad.
